Kentuckiana Lodge’s Class Of 2022 colts are making all the right moves as they embark on their second preparation.

Cran and Chrissie Dalgety purchased and syndicated five colts at this year’s National Yearling Sales and it has been a case of so far so good with the precocious bluebloods.

“We put all of the study in leading up to the sale and we came home pretty happy with the yearlings we were able to purchase.”

“But once they’re at home they don’t know how much we paid for them or what their breeding page looks like.”

“Thankfully they are all living up to expectations so far.”

“They were all broken in after the sales and had a nice freshen up after that.”

“The colts are back in now and we are working on giving them a bit more education and finding out a little bit more about them.”

Cran has given an early assessment of each colt as this early stage of their second preparation:

Lot 125 - Downbytheseaside - Showbiz - Bettor's Delight - Colt

“He was a colty type when he first came in and so we gelded him and that has helped him put his mind on what he should be doing.”

“He has really pleased us and gives us the feel that he has a really nice turn of foot.”

“On type and with everything continuing to go well, he should be up and running nice and early.”

Lot 267 - American Ideal - Classical - Soky's Atom - Colt

“He is just a really happy, laid back camper with a fantastic attitude.”

“He is a taller type, so he won’t be among the early two-year-olds but he won’t be too far behind them.”

“He is a lovely mover and we really like him.”

Lot 318 - Captaintreacherous-Imaginary Bet - Bettor's Delight - Colt

“He is the most laid back character you could find, which is a bonus considering the Captaintreacherouses can be hotter types.”

“But once he is on the job he gets along really nicely and he has a real touch of class about him.”

“He is by the right sire to run early and all signs say he will be up and about as an early two-year-old.”

Lot 342 - Always B Miki - Luisianabelle Midfrew - American Ideal - Colt

“He is typical Miki, he has a bit of scope to him and he is has grown into a taller, longer type.”

“He looks like he is going to be a lovely staying horse.”

“Another prep will do him the world of good, he is definitely heading in the right direction.”

Lot 382 - Art Major - Ragazza Bromac - Falcon Seelster - Colt

“He is a tall, thoroughbred type and he has all the style and the action to go with it.”

“He has done everything right so far and has bowled around quite nicely.”

“We quite like him and definitely think he has a nice future.”

Once the Kentuckiana Lodge colts are put through their second prep, the Class Of 2022 fillies will be brought back into work and further updates on their progress will be provided.
