Kentuckiana Lodge trainers Cran and Chrissie Dalgety simply can’t wait to get back to the NZB Standardbred National Yearling Sales in Christchurch on Monday.

The week’s delay to the three days of yearling selling has done nothing to dampen Cran’s signature enthusiasm.

It would be nearly impossible for the master trainer not to head back to the sales ring with a spring in his step considering what a success the Auckland sale was for Kentuckiana Lodge.

“It’s a bit like sitting on the bench for the All Blacks, we are ready to make a super substitution and we are bursting to get back to the sales,” Cran said.

Kentuckiana Lodge were successful bidders on three yearlings in Auckland:

Lot 8 – a Sweet Lou Colt from Bettor’s Delight mare Pacing Delight - $50,000

Lot 50 – a Sweet Lou Filly from Bettor’s Delight mare Bettor Romance - $30,000

Lot 116 – a Bettor’s Delight filly from Christian Cullen mare Lauraella - $120,000

Cran and Chrissie not only got the horses they wanted, shares in the trio were quickly snapped up.

“Auckland couldn’t have really gone much better, really,” Cran said.

“We brought home three very nice types and they were all ones we targeted after we did our inspections.”

“Probably the most interesting thing about the whole experience was that I went up there wanting to get my hands on a lovely Bettor’s Delight filly.”

“I actually had the Lauraella filly and the Major Reality filly on a par.”

“I was rapt to get the Lauraella filly and she looked like a bit of a steel once the Major Reality one went for $300,000.”

“That is how these auctions go, you have got to make big calls in a very short space of time.”

“That is what all of our focus will be on for the three days in Christchurch.”

Cran and Chrissie plan to bring plenty more yearlings home as the National Yearling Sales head south.

They have existing clients and newcomers to Kentuckiana Lodge eager join in the ownership of their purposes.

“To be honest it is all a little bit exciting going into Christchurch.”

“We have some great people keen to race some nice horses with us.”

“We have our loyal clients keen to race some more good horses and a lot of interest from people new to the stable.”

“There have been people making enquiries from all around the country and we have people wanting small percentages and others wanting a half or quarter share in a really nice horse.”

“We welcome everyone here, there is no one we can’t accommodate.”

Kentuckiana Lodge prides itself in offering shares from 1 to 100% in its yearling purchases.

There are simply no limits to the ownership opportunities at one of New Zealand’s leading stables.
