Kentuckiana Lodge’s two-year-old boys have a hard act to follow when they step out at Addington on Friday night.

Cran and Chrissie Dalgety’s trio of youngsters Major Icon, Watermelon Sugar and Coney Island Lou will go head-to-head in a smart field of two-year-olds.

The Kentuckiana boys will be up to keep up their end following Black Pearl’s demolition job at Ashburton on Sunday.

Given the opinion of each of the three boys within the stable, it is entirely possible that they can do that.

“They are three lovely horses and any of the three of them could win,” Carter Dalgety said.

“There is no doubt Major Icon (7) was a bit disappointing in his last start, he lost concentration down the straight when it was time to go.”

“But he is a much better horse that than and we have made some changes with him so hopefully we see the real Major Icon.”

“He has gate speed and race fitness on his side, so that might put him in the best spot of the three of them.”

“Coney Island (10) doesn’t look to have drawn that great on paper but it could work out for him.”

“He is a high speed horse and if he can get a decent run through early he might be close enough to finish over the top of them."

“Watermelon Sugar (12) has obviously copped the worst of the draws and it is never easy from the outside of the second row.”

“But he is a very smart horse and I wouldn’t think he would be inferior to anything in that field.”

“If he gets the right drag into it he can definitely win.”

“All in all we have three lovely horses lining up and a lot will depend on how the race is run and who is closest on the home bend.”

Kentuckiana Lodge also starts Trixton Time in race 9 at Addington on Friday night.

Switching to mobile racing looks a huge plus for the trotter.

“He has taken good improvement from his fresh up run,” Carter said.

“He loves the mobile and this looks a nice race for him.”
“I’ll look to be pretty positive with him and hopefully he is there at the business end.”

Carter Dalgety drives both Trixton Time and Watermelon Sugar with Blair Orange to drive Coney Island Lou and Zac Butcher to partner Major Icon.

Kentuckiana Lodge had two horses at the workouts this week looking to take another step closer to the races.

Fun To Come and Defy Me both performed well in an unqualified heat.

Fun To Come charged home wide on the track while Defy Me went to the line hard held on the back of the winner.
