The chance for due reward awaits Kentuckiana Lodge trotter Trixton Time at Oamaru on Sunday.

Trainers Cran and Chrissie Dalgety will take five horses south to Dalgety country including their consistent squaregaiter.

The trips south looks well worthwhile for Trixton Time who has been taking on much harder fields in Canterbury recently.

“He has been racing some smart types recently and he slots into this race very nicely,” Cran said.

“The 30m back mark is never easy but on form, he looks well placed racing the horses in front of him.”

“His last run was very good, he sat parked throughout and was only grabbed late by some nice horses.”

“All in all, we are expecting a nice run from him.”

Kentuckiana Lodge has a two-pronged attack on race ten on Sunday with Casino Action and Ajira going head-to-head.

Casino Action, who has shown plenty of gate speed in the past, has drawn inside Ajira (7) in barrier 4.

“Casino Action trialled very nice earlier in the week, he wasn’t asked for too much but he got to the line good.”

“He has only had the one trial and will take good improvement from this run, but on his ability, he should race very well.”

“There isn’t a lot between him and Ajira, but obviously Casino Action has the draw to use.”

Ajira starts from barrier 7 with Carter Dalgety to drive while Casino Action combines with Blair Orange.

“Ajira trialled nicely on Wednesday, he was only beaten by horses that have had a bit of racing recently,” Cran said.

“He is a horse that thrives on racing being a Bettor’s Delight, so he will improve with this run.”

“But on how he has been working he is going to be quite competitive.”

Kentuckiana youngsters Light Up The Fire (1) and Major Icon (3) also go head to head on Sunday.

The pair are set to be up on the pace after drawing barriers 1 and 3.

Light Up The Fire is another of the Dalgety team who trialled well at Rangiora this week.

“She ran on quite nicely from last, it was a good trial.”

“Just through circumstance we haven’t seen her best in her two starts so far.”

“But she is a filly with good ability and with the 1 draw on Sunday she should get the chance to show it.”

“We are expecting her to race very well.”

Major Icon heads into Sunday’s race after a creditable effort for sixth at Addington.

“He sat parked and wasn’t too far off the winner, so it was a good effort.”

“He looks well placed on Sunday and we are expecting a very bold run.”

Blair Orange will drive Light Up The Fire with Carter Dalgety to combine with Major Icon.
