A Kentuckiana Lodge win has never been as popular as Eun Sogno’s brilliant debut victory at Addington.
The two-year-old made history with his powerhouse performance producing the first harness racing winner for his owners, the TAB Racing Club.
Trainers Cran and Chrissie Dalgety were delighted with Eun Sogno’s effort and just as thrilled to produce something of a landmark moment for Entain.
“We’ve trained for big syndicates before but this one is on another level,” Cran said.
“Hopefully there were owners up and down the country that got a real buzz out of that.”
“Everyone that was on track certainly did, it was something new for us and a real thrill.”
“The TAB Racing Club is one of the many ways Entain is driving interest in our sport and when we were entrusted with this horse, we wanted to repay their faith and do our little bit to contribute to this great initiative.”
“We knew we had a horse that was capable, but for him to win the way he did in his first start was pretty special.”
Eun Sogno was eased off the gate and settled fourth for driver Carter Dalgety.
The pair then put themselves in the race with 1000m to go, before Eun Sogno unleashed a brilliant homestraight effort to win.
“I was quite happy to ease back early but then with 1000m to go I had to make a decision to put him in the race,” Carter said.
“When he came up outside the leader it sort of sparked him into life, they ran home in sharp sectionals and he would have been fully entitled to run a nice second.”
“But he dug in that last 100m or so and it was a very impressive effort.”
The initial plans for Eun Sogno were to chase down a maiden victory and then for the two-year-old to enjoy a freshen up.
With that goal already ticked off, the Dalgetys will now work on a new plan.
“We knew he had the ability to win at short notice, but for him to win as he did in his first start means we will have to do some reassessing.”
“He will have a quiet time over the weekend and we will put some study into the programmes and see where we can head next.”
Eun Sogno is paid up for both the Sires Stakes Series and Harness Million, opening up potential options later in the season.
