Kentuckiana Lodge team headed to Nelson with two horses and they were delighted to come home with two winners.

Casino Action and Ajira both produced outstanding efforts for trainers Cran and Chrissie Dalgety by winning and placing on both days of the two-day meeting at Richmond.

Casino Action continued his outstanding recent form by winning in a sizzling 1.52.9 mile time on Sunday.

The four-year-old went one place better than his excellent second on the first day of the meeting when sitting parked and delivering a crushing victory.

“He is just a very genuine racehorse, you would love to have a barn full of horses that try as hard as he does,” Cran said.

“They ran along at a hot speed and he was there to be shot down at the 100m when the second horse had the cold shot at him.”

“But he said no way and stuck his head out to win.”

“He did the same at Roxburgh when sitting three wide for the last lap.”

“He is just a wee ripper, he’s got a nice motor and he gives his all every time.”

“With the form he is in now, he is nowhere near finished winning either.”

Sunday’s win was Casino Action’s sixth career victory for owners Ron Burke, Alan Galbraith QC, Hazel van Opzeeland, John Meates and Gary Pay, who race the pacer with Chrissie Dalgety.

Ajira produced a nice effort for third behind Casino Action on Sunday.

The four-year-old produced an impressive win at Nelson on Friday, powering home from well off the speed to win.

“It has been a frustrating run up until this weekend, but it was great see the real Ajira.”

“Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong for the horse recently.”

“It was very satisfying for the owners, rather than ourselves, to see the horse put together his real ability.”

“We hope the hiccups he has had are well behind him and he can continue to do a good job now.”

Ajira is raced by Courtco Racing, John Gregg, Terry Mander, estate of the late Ross McKerchar, P A Gunby, Mrs T M Perham, the Ajira Syndicate and Chrissie Dalgety.

Both Casino Action and Ajira were expertly handled by Carter Dalgety.
