Promising two-year-old Devil Woman set up a big weekend for Kentuckiana Lodge and owners Peter and Karen Boag with her debut win at Winton last week.
The youngster produced the first leg of a winning double for her breeder-owners when she scored three days before her half-sister Bettor Than Lizzy.
Devil Woman coasted to victory in an easy debut win for the Cran, Chrissie and Carter Dalgety combination.
Though Carter admitted after the race the win may have been a little too easy.
"She's a lovely wee girl but she's still green yet and has a bit to learn about what it is all about."
"She was just cruising up the straight and took it pretty casually."
"When they got close to her she did respond and she wasn't going to let them get past."
"There are promising signs there, hopefully we can get a bit more racing into her and she can become the complete package."
Devil Woman will get her next opportunity in the Group Two Bionic Chance Bracelet at Addington on Friday night.
The two-year-old starts from the workable barrier 4 draw in a field of promising fillies.
"We took her down south as much for the experience away as for the race," Cran said.
"We won on the track and we return home with a more seasoned filly who has picked up a few street smarts along the way, which is a win in itself."
"On talent, she well and truly deserves a shot at this nice race on Friday night."
"If she can handle the occasion and race like a wee professional, first start under lights, I am sure they will know she is there."
Bettor Than Lizzy's luck on the track finally turned when she took care of her opposition with ease at Ashburton on Sunday.
Little had gone the mare's way this time in, including being held up on the markers in her last start at Rangiora.
"We were able to slip her into a low-rated race at Ashburton and she showed what she is made of,” Cran said.
"To race wide and then sit parked and run away from them in solid time, it was very pleasing."
"It had been a frustrating few runs for her before that and I was thrilled for Peter and Karen."
Bettor Than Lizzy steps back up in class on Friday night when she contests the Listed Uncut Gems Mares Classic.
"There has been one silver lining with the luck she has had, her rating has come down and it has given her a nice draw on Friday night."
"Though it's a different ballgame this week, she's fit and well and ready to run another nice race."
"From the two hole we have a major advantage over the favourites and we hope to give them a bit of cheek."
While the Kentuckiana team was thrilled the Boags enjoyed a winning double as breeders and owners last week, a feature race or two at Addington would take things to another level.
"We had a hard enough time beating Dizzy Miss Lizzy on the track, so we know how good she was."
"We are quite happy to be on the other side of the fence with her progeny now."
"Last week was a nice accomplishment for Peter and Karen and we hope there is more to come."
Kentuckiana Lodge has runners across the feature events at Addington on Friday night including Marble Arch and Freeze Frame in the Sires Stakes Semi Final and Tetrick in the Listed Uncut Gems Trotters Classic.
