Technically speaking, Kentuckiana Lodge pacer Ragazzo Major is two years ahead of his time.
The Cran and Chrissie Dalgety trained pacer has put together a strong formline in recent weeks, including back to back wins at Addington for owner Diane Reilly.
The three-year-old is a towering figure, undoubtedly the tallest horse at Kentuckiana Lodge.
While horses of this nature usually take until they are four or five-years-old to show strong form, Ragazzo Major isn’t waiting around for that.
“He is a big boy, some of the staff have to get the step ladder out to get his cover on,” Cran joked.
“But he is an athletic type with it and he’s not in the typical mould of a horse of his height.”
“You could definitely say he is only going to get better with more time, but we are more than happy with what he is doing at the moment.”
“Diane is a great supporter of ours and she puts a lot into a game right across Australasia.”
“We love winning races for her, she’s won all the big ones and gets just as much of a thrill with this fellow.”
“We are hopeful will still have plenty to cheer about going forward, too.”
Ragazzo Major will be out to continue his fine recent form at Addington on Friday night.
In his latest outing, the pacer finished second to his stablemate Spirit Of Anarchy in a Kentuckiana Lodge quinella.
Spirit Of Anarchy relished a step back in class to rack up his fourth career win, recently.
“It was great to see Spirit Of Anarchy winning again to Trevor (Casey) and his group of owners,” Cran said.
“He had been a victim of his own success, he has been thrown into a tough grade after winning a few races.”
“He has always been up against good quality horses, but his is a quality horse himself.”
“With the trip he got, he was always going to be hard to beat and we were rapt that he got his reward.”
Spirit Of Anarchy is enjoying a freshen up following his last start victory.
